Ramesh Gorjala

Ramesh Gorjala born in 1979, in Andhra Pradesh, Ramesh did his B.F.A. in painting from J.N.T.U., Hyderabad.Influenced greatly by the folk arts of Andhra region, his "Kalamkari" lineage is reflected in his art, which has a distinctive contemporary twist added to it. His signature style of blending text with image, lends the canvas an intoxicating visual appeal. Hanuman, Krishna and other mythological characters often find their way into his ever-fertile imagination in acrylic on canvas and handmade paper.Ramesh has exhibited widely and his works have featured in many shows both nationally and internationally, including the "Art in Action" in London.Ramesh Gorjala has also received several prestigious awards such as the State Award of Andhra Pradesh in 2002.Ramesh recived the “Mahatma Gandhi Birth Centenary Memorial Award” for the year 2000 from Victoria Technical Institute (V.T.I.), Chennai. He also received the prestigious “State Award” of Andhra Pradesh in 2002.The artist lives and works in his village near Tirupati.
